Milestone Breakdown & Time Frame

Milestone 1: Orientation & Introduction to Design (1 Hour – Week 1)

Students begin by exploring the world of digital design. They learn how to navigate Canva or Adobe Express, set up their creative workspace, and review the basic elements that make up good design. During this session, they also create a simple design board and set personal creative goals for the course.

Milestone 2: Elements & Principles of Design (3 Hours – Weeks 2–3)

Students dive into the building blocks of design—color theory, typography, balance, alignment, and hierarchy. Through hands-on activities, they create mood boards and simple layouts to demonstrate visual impact. The milestone concludes with a project that showcases their first complete design piece.

Milestone 3: Brand Identity Development (3 Hours – Weeks 4–5)

Students build a personal or mock brand identity by brainstorming names, sketching logo concepts, and selecting fonts and colors. They learn how visual choices communicate emotion and purpose. The milestone ends with a mini brand guide containing a logo draft, font selections, and color palette.

Milestone 4: Layout & Composition (3 Hours – Weeks 6–7)

This milestone applies brand elements to real-world projects. Students design flyers, posters, or ads while learning spacing, alignment, and content flow. By the end, each student produces at least one polished layout reflecting their creative brand identity.

Milestone 5: Digital Content Creation (2 Hours – Weeks 8–9)

Students bring their brand to life online by creating social-media templates, promotional graphics, or short animations. They explore consistency, storytelling, and audience engagement across digital platforms. Completed assets can be used for school, business ideas, or creative portfolios.

Milestone 6: Final Portfolio & Brand Presentation (2 Hours – Weeks 10–12)

In the final stage, students compile all projects into a cohesive digital portfolio. They refine designs, write a brief creative statement, and present their brand identity as if pitching to a client or audience. This milestone demonstrates mastery and confidence—marking program completion and the final billing point for Step Up or self-pay families.
